Picasso blog

how I communicated through my work? I communicated through my work by using the style of Picasso. Making my message harder to look for and find because in his artwork it took time to realize what the message was. In my artwork the message is we're all living in the universe just trying to figure it out like a puzzle. Although this piece doesn't look very hard, and there isn't much detail it was hard trying to figure out the message and the idea. Also relating it to Picassos artwork. In his artwork you really had to look for the message and it wasn't just  given to you. My artwork may just look like a lot of circles and lines but when you take the time to look at it there's a message.
I created original art!
In Picasso's art he used a lot of dark colors and then my painting I use a lot of vibrant colors. Picasso went there to time where his artwork was either in the blue stage or the rose stage was when he created paintings only with blue and with light reds. His two time periods was based on his mood where blue was depression. Most of his blue paintings were sad.  My art had no specific mood. In his famous our work called teacups it was i'm clear the message where you had a really take the depth of the picture and find it. although my message is not directly in the paining and has a story. In an art piece by Picasso he has two bold stripes representing a border so I incorporated his artwork of the borders into mine.
I took risks!
I took a lot of risks and this painting. I now only did two sketches I tried a lot of different ideas, with paint and sharpie. My sketches don't really look like my final. I gave up in my sketches and just try to a different thing for my final. In the end I didn't go based off my sketches or have a plan I just went with the flow. painting was the hardest part because I had to make sure I incorporated by painting with the borders. The color choice was also hard and knowing where to place the colors. I ended up becoming happy with this piece, I like tower used Picassos our sound to make my own art.

Art Exam

1. How does the comparison of the two drawings show how you have grown as an artist durring this class? Explain how this work shows the development of your art making skills.
Over time you can see how the hand drawings got a lot better. In the beginning you can tell I didn't know how to use proportion. In my first letter L you can tell how my fingers were to skinny for my hand. In the first hand I you can also see how I only focused on the hand, not the wrist. In my hand I redrew I focused on the hand, but the wrist and background as well. In both drawings I used value. You can tell in the second hand I took my time and used the value carefully. Also the first hand I drew doesn't look realistic, in the second hand, you can tell it's my hand. You can tell just by the two hands how much I have progressed as an artist.
2. What was your most successful project this semester? Describe this project and your work, then explain why you picked it.
To me my most successful art project was the parody project. I took a painting from the artist ,Margritte. In his painting he had the bird flying in the day time sky. In my drawing I drew a bird flying in a sunset. This was my most successful project because I remember I took the most time on this one. I also used the most color and contrast on this project. I love Margritte's work and I was happy I could do a parody of his work. I also like how my bird in the clouds pop from the sunset. I enjoyed doing this project and I was very happy with the outcome.

3.Do over- What was a project this semester you would change if you could? Describe the project and your work, including what do you didn't like about the work, then explain what you could have done defferently to improve the result.
If I could I would re-do any of my projects it would be the space project. I was very unhappy with the results. I did this project in one day because I kept messing up the rough draft. If I could go back in time I would be more patient with my project and not rush. I didn't like how the planets in the background looked. They looked like it was rushed and not drawn neatly. If I could re-do it I would change the whole project.  I would draw the moon in oil pastel and add more value to the moon, and drawn the different stars instead of planets and have them all one color so my moon can pop out more. In the project there was a lot going in the background so the moon wasn't the main focus.
4. How did taking risks or challenging yourself make you a better artist this semester? Explain how with Examples from your work.
For one of out last projects we had to create a sculpture made out of clay. Thid was the most challenging for me because I have never arted with clay before. This was a very big risk for me because I was very scared to try and make a pinch pot. In the beginning it was hard but I figured out you have to make sure the clay is damp in order to art with. Being able to use clay made me a better artist. It showed me that paper isn't the only think you can art with. This project was very fun and made me open my eyes with the new materials you can art with.
5. What is the media that you enjoyed working with this semester? Write about what the media was, explain why you liked it and give examples of work you created with it.
My favorite media I worked with this semester was tissue paper. I loved how I can layer the paper and make it look different with all of the colors. The paper is used as a background for my art. It was very easy to work with. You just had to glue the paper down and layer it. This project was my favorite because I got to choose the colors I wanted to work with and put them how I wanted on my paper. For tissue paper you didn't have to use a specific color and you can use all the colors. You could put purple and yellow and brown and it would still look good, but if it was on paper it would mix and look bad. The tissue paper didn't take to long to long to dry either which made it easy to work with.

Artist Develop Art Making Skills
we had to make a pinch pot made out of clay. I have never used clay before in my art so this was something new. This project taught me a lot. I learned a lot of art techniques. I learned how to make sure the clay was just a little damp because it made the clay easier to art with. Clay art was something I have never been use to before. This project was very fun and I enjoyed it. I didn't think it would turn our good but I ended up liking my pinch pot a lot. I can see myself  using clay more for my art.

for my pot I wanted it to be used for something good. My brother and his girlfriend just grauated from ECU and they just moved back to Cary. I love the way purple and yellow contrast. so for my project I wanted to make something ECU that they could use. Since I had to make a pinch pot I turned that into a small bowl. I created my work personalized by painting it purple with yellow dots to represent ECU

For my other project I wanted to create a scarf. I knew the best way for me to make a scarf was to finger knit. I finger knitted a scarf but the problem was it was very skinny. It was too skinny to be a scarf. So I wanted to make it look better. I got thicker yarn and weaved it in the scarf. Then that looked really ugly so instead of a scarf it turned out to be a very stylish doorknob cover. I used my creatitivity and made it the doorknob cover. Now doors can be opened with style.

 Artists Create Original Art
Hair and make-up was a big part of art in cheerleading. Our hair and make-up has to all look the same. Our gym colors are black and red. The uniforms we wear must match the theme of our gym. For the whole season our make-up was silver with a little bit of red. For worlds we changed it to a smokey eye of silver and black. We all had to get as a team together and do the make-up the same way. From close up it looks good and from far away it looks even better. For the girls on the team we had to tease our hair and do a poof. A poof is where you get the top part of your hair and tease it so it looks like a birds nest, and then lay it back. We all had to put our bows in our hair and tease our ponytail to make it look big.

As a team of 19 people during the routine we all have to make sure we look the same.  We all have to have the same timing, and we all have know the counts. The counts are from 1-8 each count is a different thing. There is a separate part on the score sheet for synchronized tumbling. As a team we all do back handspring back handspring full. We all have to take off the same, we all have to set the same and we all have to land the same. While we are tumbling we all have to make sure our ankles and legs are together.

As being a part of a team with twenty people we all have to work together. Everyone has to do their own stuff because if one person messes up the whole team messes up. As a team we all have to work together. We figured out yelling at eachother doesn't help, but working together as a team. Durring the week of worlds I have never seen my team so bonded. We all took different roles of the team. No one on our team was a captian, we all had to motivate and push eachother throughout the routine. We all cheered eachother on when we knew someone was having a hard part. But in the end we all loved eachother and took different roles as being part of the team.

Color Project

Artists Take Risks
In my emotion project I was struggling to figure out what I was doing. I first started by doing sketches of how I wanted the heart to overlap with water color. The sketches were going good. I started off by using water colors for the heart, and then adding extra water to make the water color fall. Durring my final I decided that the heart looked to faded by the water, so I put acrylic paint on top of the water color and painted the heart. I didn't think that the acrylic paint would make the red pop that much! I wasn't expecting the red to become that bold when in my head it was just a little bit faded. I tried to drip the blue water color above the heart but it didn't soak into the red it just ran over which isn't what I thought would have happened. Around my broken heart I used a white colored pencil so the water color wouldn't get on that part of my art. I didn't realize until later that the white was to big of a gap and that the water color just goes on top anyway.

I was trying to make a parody of the artist Margritte. He has a famous painting of a man in a suit and bow tie standing there with a hat on his head but an apple in front of his face. As a parody I was going to do a buff man with tattoos and a SnapBack as a hat with an apple in front of his face. I took a step back from art and took a minute to actually look at it. I noticed a lot if things such as my arms weren't symmetrical and the proportions weren't right. His arms were to big, his neck was to big for his body and his head was to small. I decided later that I wasn't going to do that idea. The main problem I had was making his body symmetrical.

Artists Communicate Through Their Work
For my style project I was inspired by the artist Jackson Pollock. After watching a video of him I decided I wanted to try and throw paint. What Jackson Pollock did wasn't just throwing paint, he created messages in his art and used different brushes and objects to create his art splatters. In my art I decided I wanted to do a secret code I only knew about. I was splattering the paint on my canvas and then it looked like it needed dark colors. My color scheme was Pasal colors or light colors. I used, Red, Blue, Yellow, Green and White. I added white to all the colors to create lighter Tints of the color I wanted. Looking at the painting It looked to light. I got black and tried to splatter the paint spellin out my name. My name was easy to do in splatter paint because my name is just lines. I don't think anyone else can tell. but I know the black in my art is my name.

Land or Sky Project.

Artist Create Original Art
In my project I created my own art by not copying others and using my creativity. I was struggling on what I was going to do for my project. I was thinking about the trying to do a sky project but I coundn't think any ideas that wasn't copying someone's art. I was trying to do land. it that was very hard. I was thinking about ideas and "land on the prairie" came up in my head. With that idea I didn't look at any pictures I just drew what I was thinking.

In this project I used three different chalks,I blended the chalk dust together to create the grass to more realistic. I knew I couldn't mix chalk and oil Pastals. I used the oil Pastals as the outline and the chalk on the inside because I know chalk couldn't go over oil. I also used one point perspective for the river to make it look like it's really flowing. I made the river start narrow and get wider toward the base of the hill.
Artist Take Risks
In my project I took a lot of chances. In my project I tried to make the river using chalk and oil. I used the blend of chalks to creat the color of my river. I blended dark blue and a little bit of light blue. To add texture to my river by using the oil Pastals not knowing it would blend or work. It was hard to make the river between the hills.

two into one project

1.) Artists create original art
•I used my own unique ideas by looking at the artist Magritte and got some ideas from him. At first I was doing a project based from a tatoo, feather breaking off into birds. I tried to draw that but it was hard and I gave up. So without a project I used some ideas from the artist. In his project he had a bird and on the inside was a sky with clouds and the background was a scene from the beach at night. I did a bird in the sky but instead of a beach I did a sunset in the background.

2.) Artist collaborate
throughout this project I was asking my peers for their help about the project. When I thought I was done, they told me to do more. When I thought I was done it wasn't shaded in dark enough and just didn't look complete. My peers told me to shade darker. After I shaded they I looked at the project and noticed the bird wasn't shaded dark enough. I didn't want to do the bird so dark so I didn't know how to color it in. Then my teacher told me it was be a good idea to shade dark from light in the bird.

3.) Artist take risks
I tried tried something different durring this project. I had the idea of the feather into birds but then realized late in the process it was to hard. I was stuck and insure of what I was going to do. I looked on the internet of artist and came across Margritte's art. I tried a new method with this project. For the sunset background I had to shade and blend colors together which I am not good at. When I thought I was done I took a step back and noticed I had to shade it all darker but knowing it would be a challenge. I'm not so comfortable with blending colors together but in the end it looked good.
